Class Page

Share your favorite PBS LearningMedia resources with students via a single web page and URL. Customize and curate the page by grouping resources into sections and publish your assignment with notes and directions.

Creating a Class Web Page

To create and edit your web class page, click on “My Favorites” in the menu, then click “View Class Page.” Name the class page and provide an introduction to your Students, click “Save” to confirm the text. Once the page is saved, you can customize the class page URL.

Creating Sections

Once a class web page has been saved, create multiple lists of resources by creating individual sections. The sections give you the ability to build and organize collections of content based on your needs; by class, topic, day, etc.

To create a new list of resources, click “Add New Section,” and add a section name and description. Click “Save” to retain your changes. Sections will appear in alphabetical order on the left side of the page.

NOTE: You must enter a description in order to see the “Save” button and to save Sections.

To delete a section from your class web page, click “Remove Section.”

Adding / Deleting Resources

Once a section has been created, you can add select resources to add from “My Favorites.” To add a resource to a section, click “Add Resources,” choose the resource to be added by selecting the appropriate checkbox, then click “Add to Section.” Use the filters on the left side of the page to narrow the resources displayed on the right. Once resources have been saved to a section, they may be reordered by using the up/down arrows to the left of the resource image. To add context to a resource, enter text into the notes field and click “Save.” This text will be displayed whenever your students view the resources.

Click “remove” to delete a resource from a section. Doing so will not remove it from “My Favorites.”

NOTE: Lesson Plans will not be displayed to students.

Publishing Class Sections

Once resources have been added to a section, the section can be published for student viewing. You can publish the section in its entirety by clicking the “Publish” checkbox at the top of each section or you can choose to publish individual resources within each section by clicking the “Publish” checkbox next to each resource.

Viewing Student Class Page

To view what a student will see; click “View as Student.” Students can access this page directly – without logging in – by either pasting or typing the class page URL into their browser.

In the student view, they can choose the section corresponding to your assignment and click a resource title or image to view a resource you’ve published. A content viewer will appear in an overlay window where students can click to play video/audio or launch an interactive, document, or image.

Return to the editable version of the class page by clicking “View as Teacher.”
