What is Frame, Focus and Follow-up?

**Frame:** When we double a number, what are we multiplying it by? If you start with the number one and double it five times, what new number is created? If you write all these numbers down, what kind of pattern do you see? A doubling pattern can create large numbers fairly quickly.

**Focus: **As you watch this segment, look at the numbers Inez generates on the Skwak pad. Record these numbers and look for the pattern that occurs. Think about how doubling is being used to help the squad cross the water.

**Follow Up:**How many times did the number of lily pads have to double inorder for the CyberSquad to cross the water? How many lily pads did theyeventually need to get across? If the lily pads doubled two more times, howmany lily pads would there be? Can you think of another example where adoubling effect would be fun or useful?
