PBS KIDS Lab

Teaching Tips developed by the Boston University School of Education enable teachers to successfully integrate PBS KIDS online games into your classroom curricula to enhance children’s early math and literacy development. The Teaching Tips provide step-by-step lessons for using educational media to enhance standards-based teaching and learning.

Children will learn that patterns consist of a “core” or “unit” that repeats as they identify and match patterns in their afterschool space. They will continue to explore and investigate by singing patterns, dancing patterns, building patterns, tasting patterns, and end the adventure by creating their own patterns. Each section of this week long adventure is introduced by a video clip or online game that encourages children to explore math concepts and skills related to understanding patterns.
