Stepping Up: What Motivates You To Take Change


“Stepping Up,” is a short video series featuring four young people working for real change in their communities. The "Stepping Up" collection includes the video series, classroom supports and a youth media challenge prompt. 

KQED searched for a diverse array of young activists representing different cities and with different perspectives who had good stories to tell about the spark that pushed them to take action. The result is “Stepping Up,” a short video series featuring four impressive young people working for real change in their communities.

Student's stories are told in the "Stepping Up" series of short videos. Are you — or do you know — a young person who’s passionate about an issue and taken action? Submit student video, audio or written pieces to KQED's Youth Media Challenge linked in resource below.

  • Stepping Up: Youth Media Challenge

    Inspired by the Stepping Up video series featuring four young people working for real change in their communities, support students who are passionate about an issue and have taken action to share their stories to inspire others. Use the following activity to encourage students to submit video, audio or written piece to KQED Youth Media Challenge.

    Grades: 7-13+
