Truman Doctrine (1947) and Resource Materials

This resource group contains two facsimiles of the Truman Doctrine, a March 12, 1947 address given by President Truman before a joint session of Congress asking for $400 million in military and economic aid for Turkey and Greece. The aid was given in the hopes of keeping Greece and Turkey from falling into the Soviet Union's sphere of influence.
