        George Washington at Valley Forge

        A 19th century lithograph of George Washington at Valley Forge with his Continental Army, Winter and Spring, 1777-78. Washington lived from 1732-1799 and was the first president of the United States of America (1789-97) and Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War (1775-83).  He led the Constitutional Convention to draft the United States constitution in 1789.
