Phonological Awareness: Rhyme and Alliteration (K-1)

This professional development module "Phonological Awareness:Rhyme and Alliteration K-1" is a part of Nashville Public Television's K-3 Reading: Road to Common Core Collection.  It is correlated to the common core ELA standards and focuses on phonological awareness, a broad skill that includes identifying and manipulating units of oral language. The module contains succinct videos modeling classroom strategies for grades K and 1.  Topics include rhyme, alliteration, and onset and rime.   The teaching tools include printable sample assessment activities, sample lesson plans, along with a comprehensive glossary. It conveys that it is vital that children speak (oral) as well as hear (aural) to build a foundation for being a successful reader.
