A Raisin in the Sun Revisited: Chapter 5

This segment focuses on Beneatha’s Place, by Center Stage Artistic Director and playwright Kwame Kwei-Armah, which was written to further conversation about some connotations he and others felt that Clybourne Park presented, one of which is “white-flight, black-blight.” This play focuses on Beneatha Younger’s character from A Raisin in the Sun, and her passion for a young Nigerian exchange student incites her enthusiasm for the emerging African independence movement. They marry and move to Nigeria, where her new life takes some unexpected turns that challenge her idealistic view of the world.
