Volunteer West Virginia’s mission is simple: To promote volunteerism and service across the state.
Each year Volunteer West Virginia administers $8 million in funding for National Service and volunteer programs in West Virginia. This includes programs like AmeriCorps, Day to Serve, Disaster Services, and other volunteer initiatives.
Did you know that West Virginia ranks third in the nation for producing AmeriCorps volunteers? Each year more than 1,100 individuals serve as AmeriCorps volunteers in West Virginia. AmeriCorps members feed hungry families, help thousands of children read, serve Veterans, and much more. Many volunteers serve in their hometowns, while others come from across the country to make West Virginia their home for the year. This is made possible due to funding administered by Volunteer West Virginia.
Volunteer programs like AmeriCorps work for the Mountain State by building strong leaders and vibrant communities. It helps create the future that West Virginia deserves.
