A Raisin in the Sun Revisited: Beneatha’s Place Introduction

In this clip from A Raisin in the Sun Revisited, author Kwame Kwei-Armah explains why he wrote Beneatha’s Place to add to the conversation on race initiated by Bruce Norris’s 2010 play Clybourne Park. Kwei-Armah describes how he identified with Beneatha’s character from A Raisin in the Sun and her intellectual fascination with the emerging African independence movement that was occurring at the time.
