        Air Monitoring in the Smokies

        Students learn that the Smoky Mountains make a unique laboratory to monitor air quality and atmospheric conditions. It turns out it is one of the few areas of the world that has experienced very little warming yet. So while the Earth has warmed 1.5 degrees from 1880 to 2012, the temperature of the Southern Appalachians has stayed essentially the same.
