        Emmanuel Joseph Sieyes by French School (18th-19th Century)

        This image is a colored engraving of Emmanuel Joseph Sieyes, who wrote about the "Third Estate" -- the common people of France -- and was pivitol in Napoleon's rise to power.  Sieyes also contributed to the emerging study of social sciences.  This ingraving is housed in the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, France.
