In this episode of *Sid the Science Kid*, Sid and his friends learn about lifting heavy items to high places using a simple machine called a pulley.

In Part 1 of The Tree House, Sid explains that he wants to lift a box of his toys up into his new tree house. Sid and his parents brainstorm solutions.

In Part 2 of The Tree House, Sid interviews his friends and asks them how they would get their toys up into a tree house.

In Part 3 of The Tree House, Sid and his classmates have Rug Time with Miss Susie and discuss how to lift heavy things to high places. Miss Susie tells the students about a simple machine that uses a wheel attached to a hook and has a rope running through it to hold onto the object: a pulley. The students learn that pulleys help lift things up and pull things sideways.

In Part 4 of The Tree House, Sid and his classmates reflect on their task of getting the bucket of tennis balls up onto the playground. Sid realizes that he can apply what he has learned about pulleys to his problem of the toys and the tree house.

In Part 5 of The Tree House, Sid and his friends play a game using a pulley.

In Part 6 of The Tree House, a family that lives in a tree sings a song about pulleys.

In Part 7 of The Tree House, Sid's Grandma tells him about how, as a little girl, she used a pulley to get water out of a well. Sid works with his Dad to pull his toys up to the tree house.

In this Live Action segment of The Tree House, students learn about pulleys by experimenting with the easiest way to lift a heavy bucket of tennis balls.
