Eat Fast Live Longer: Genetics and Aging

In this video, Michael Mosley visits Dr. Valter Longo, who specializes in aging, at the University of Southern California. There Mosley observes an experiment that Dr. Longo is performing on two rats, one of which has been genetically engineered to have a low level of insulin-like growth factor 1(IGF1), a growth hormone.  This hormone will allow the rat to live longer and is inspired by a group of people in Uruguay who have the same level of IGF1 and are able to live longer. They have no records of contracting such diseases as diabetes, despite living unhealthy lifestyles.
