Treaty of Fort Laramie (1868) and Resource Materials

This resource contains a facsimile of the 1868 Treaty of Fort Laramie. In this treaty, signed on April 29, 1868, the United States recognized the Black Hills as part of the Great Sioux Reservation, set aside for exclusive use by the Sioux people. However, this was reneged in 1877 after gold was discovered in the Black Hills.
