117: Modern Georgia, Part II | Georgia Stories

Focusing on the Civil Rights Movement, this episode of Georgia Stories helps students understand some of the ways that African Americans fought for equality in Georgia. The first segment compares Atlanta's peaceful, non-violent sit-ins to others around the country. The second segment discusses the protest songs that would be sung not only during marches, but at churches and planning meetings. The episode concludes by showing a work of art by a woman who was one of the first Georgia students to desegregate public schools in the state.
