Scaly Anteater (Manis temminckii), in water, Namibia

The anteater is also known as Pangolin or Aardvark. The Anteater is a toothless mammal of southern Africa and Asia having a body covered with horny scales and a long snout for feeding on ants and termites. Their snouts are narrow and pointed, they tear open anthills or termite mounds with their powerful front claws and probe deep into them with their very long tongues. The body is low to the ground and is covered with large, triangular, overlapping scales on the back, the sides, the outer sides of the limbs, and the entire tail.
