Alex Truesdell, Adaptive Designer | MacArthur Fellows Program

In this interview, 2015 MacArthur Fellow Alex Truesdell, shares how her aunt’s experience as a special-needs adult inspired her work in adaptive design. Truesdell, founder of nonprofit Adaptive Design Association (ADA), develops low-tech, affordable tools and furniture, so children with disabilities can participate actively in their homes, schools, and communities. She believes that innovation is strengthened through collaboration, which is why she shares her methods through in-person classes, internships, how-to videos, and forthcoming online workshops. This resource is part of the MacArthur Fellows Program Collection.
