Native American Children: Taken from Their Families

Native American children, some as young as 5, were taken from their families and brought to government-run boarding schools. This practice began in the 1860’s and continued for almost 100 years. Children ripped away from their families hid their native selves. Video from American Experience: “We Shall Remain: Wounded Knee.”
