        Persian School, (c.7th-6th century BC); Persian. Medium: gold and lapis lazuli. With repousse decoration surmounted by two addorsed lion heads in lapis lazuli; fragments of ivory and bone in socket indicate that this was the handle of a long staff of a kind seen held by Kings in Assyrian and Achaemenian reliefs; Provenance: British Museum, London, UK.
