        Coronation chair made for Edward I by 'Walter', 1300-01

        English School, (14th century). Medium: wood. Date: 14th Century. Made to contain the Stone of Scone brought by the King from Scotland; every sovereign has been crowned in it since Edward II; the Stone of Scone was returned to Scotland in 1996, where it is kept at Edinburgh Castle except when in use for a coronation Provenance: Westminster Abbey, London, UK.
