        In the summer of 1926, Al Capone grows in notoriety as the gang violence of Chicago escalates. The federal government announces that illegal income is taxable. Capone does not file an income tax return, telling the IRS he has too little to claim. In 1931, he is indicted for income tax evasion. His trial sets off a media frenzy.
