Learn about the history and technology of tornadic storm prediction, in this video from NOVA: Oklahoma’s Deadliest Tornadoes. Visualize the atmospheric processes involved in supercell formation, and learn how dual-polarization radar technology can look into the heart of a tornado to provide critical data, such as precipitation or debris shape, size, and type. Data from dual-polarization radar enable meteorologists to make more accurate weather predictions and to better alert communities in advance about impending tornadoes.
