This image taken from Raw to Ready: Komatsu, demonstrates the process of electroplating. Electroplating is done by taking two metals and putting them into a chemical bath. One is positively charged and one is negatively charged and a current is running through it. Metal ions come off the positive side, move through the liquid, and attach onto the negatively charged metal. They atomically bond with it – this is not like painting, where it is just on the top – they become one with the base metal.
