Teachers at Charles L. Spragg Elementary School demonstrate how the Progressive Math Initiative (PMI) has increased math proficiency in this episode of NJEA’s Classroom Close-up. PMI is a resource that was developed by The New Jersey Center for Teaching and Learning. Educators at the urban-rural school created, shared, refined and piloted the program. Teachers use interactive whiteboards and responders to gauge students’ understanding of math topics. In just four years of using PMI, math scores increased from 25 to 75 percent proficient.
