Explore how fourth graders at Kresson Elementary School learn about watersheds in this episode of NJEA’s Classroom Close-up. A creek located at the school provides the lab for surveying benthic macroinvertebrates. Students learn how to identify macroinvertebrates and use the survey to assess water quality. Studying watersheds helps students understand how their actions on land affect life in watersheds and increases their appreciation for the environment. Students are aided by ambassadors from AmeriCorp.
