Arriving in Sobibor | Escape from a Nazi Death Camp: Chapter 1

The escape from the Nazi extermination camp Sobibor was one of only two successsful uprisings by prisoners held in Nazi camps during World War II. This documentary, which first aired on PBS in May 2014, chronicles that escape attempt through live-action recreations, as well as interviews with survivors and historians. In this first part of the film, historian Howard Tuck talks about why death camps like Sobibor were introduced during World War II. And, we see survivor Toivi Blatt on the day of the 70th anniversary of the escape from Sobibor recalling his experiences of arriving at the camp.
