        General Hooker's Resignation

This clip from Lincoln@Gettysburg explains the controversy surrounding General Hooker's resignation just before the Battle of Gettysburg. President Lincoln used the telegraph to determine General Lee's plans to invade Pennsylvania in June 1863, and pushed General Hooker to attack before Lee's army moved further south. Hooker refused, and ultimately resigned his command.
