        Voting Rights Act Lesson Plan

In this lesson, students will examine how the Voting Rights Act of 1965 enforced the Fifteenth Amendment and how debates about voting rights continue today. Students will be familiar with the Fifteenth Amendment, understand that the Fifteenth Amendment was not enforced until the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and debate whether current day voter ID requirements violate civil rights protections in the Voting Rights Act.
