D-Day Veterans Return to Normandy 70 Years Later

Help students understand why D-Day is still commemorated 70 years later with this PBS NewsHour video and educational resource from June 9, 2014.  In 1944, well over 150,000 Allied troops invaded France to fight the Nazis in a battle that eventually changed the course of World War II. On the 70th anniversary of D-Day, President Obama and other world leaders gathered at Normandy to salute the U.S. troops who stormed the shore and sacrificed their lives for the war effort.
