        Understanding Ebola Virus Disease

This resource features an Ebola virus interactive model that allows you to explore factors that either contribute to the spread of the virus or work to contain its spread. Use of these models can help point researchers to strategies for containing the spread of infection. Such models must take into account the properties of the virus, the population exposed to the virus, human behaviors, and the effectiveness of measures taken to contain the spread of the virus. An interactive map illustrates the spread of the 2014-2015 Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Additional maps relate the spread of Ebola to population density and access to treatment centers.
