        Surgeons’ records show another side of life at Fort Buford, illustrating how limited medical knowledge was in the late 1800s.  Unsanitary conditions, a lack of fresh fruits and vegetables, and a variety of diseases were contributors to a host of different health problems for the men and women of Fort Buford.
