Poverty & Early Childhood Intervention in West Virginia: Lesson Plan | A Path Appears

As more and more research is conducted on problems and conditions that have bearing on human rights, social justice, and inequity in the United States and abroad, it becomes clear that many of these issues are compounded by poverty. In this lesson, students will investigate poverty in the U.S., examine the forces that perpetuate it, and learn about some of the programs and approaches that communities and organizations have been using to address the problem. They will apply this knowledge to research and creative-writing opportunities to explore the topic further.
