In this clip from Genius by Stephen Hawking, learn about molecules and their behavior on an atomic scale. The volunteers are presented with a number of blue and yellow pentagon-shaped magnets. The individual magnets are similar to atoms of different elements, such as: carbon, oxygen, or hydrogen. They have positive and negatives charges; they can attract of repel each other. Each different combination creates a different molecule and many combinations are possible. The volunteers must experiment and see how they can make the atoms into molecules; they find that if they get the conditions right molecules can almost spring out of nowhere.
