        Presentation Sword, 1864 | A State Divided

Presentation swords were given as thanks for a soldier’s service. They were worn for parades and other formal events. This sword belonged to Union Colonel Frank Wolford. In the army, Wolford chased Confederate General John Hunt Morgan and his raiders. He was given this sword in honor of his service. Later, Wolford was kicked out of the Army for speaking out against President Abraham Lincoln.
