In this interactive from APT, solve problems involving horsepower while exploring inverse proportion. In the accompanying classroom activity, students talk through examples of direct and inverse proportion, writing corresponding equations that include the constant of proportionality in each. To get the most from the activity, students should be comfortable interpreting and representing relationships with algebraic equations and should have experience solving real-world problems involving unit rates. Prior exposure to horsepower and foot-pounds is helpful.
