In this interview, 2011 MacArthur Fellow Marie-Therese Connolly talks about how her career as a lawyer lead to her focus on the immense problem of elder abuse and mistreatment. As Director of the Dept. of Justice's Elder Justice and Nursing Home Initiative, Connolly was instrumental in the drafting and passage of the Elder Justice Act, the first piece of federal legislation to address the issue. Connolly continues her efforts to prevent the suffering of older adults and ensure that elder abuse becomes a priority on the national agenda.
