Mark Bradford, Mixed-Media Artist | MacArthur Fellows Program

In this interview, 2009 MacArthur Fellow Mark Bradford discusses his process of incorporating ephemeral material from urban environments into complex mixed-media works on canvas. Bradford’s pieces are often large, loosely gridded, and map-like in character and reference the communities from which he culls his materials. Through his innovative work, Bradford is developing a means of representing in two dimensions the dynamism and depth of the communities and streets he excavates. This resource is part of the MacArthur Fellows Program Collection.
