        Jacanas and Polyandry

        Stephen Emlen of Cornell University explains the unusual reproductive strategy of female wattled jacanas. Instead of the female incubating the eggs and caring for the young, the male does it. The jacanas' reversal of traditional roles has enabled the species to survive.
