Watch network engineer Diana Tootle explain how she uses math in her work in this video from KAET. In the accompanying classroom activity, students watch the video and then complete an activity involving an aspect of math that Ms. Tootle discusses: converting numbers between base 2 and base 10. To get the most from the lesson, students should have some experience writing and evaluating numerical expressions involving whole-number exponents, using exponents to denote place values (e.g, 101, 100), and writing numbers using expanded notation._

Special thanks to Diana Tootle, Network Engineer with Scottsdale Unified School District in Scottsdale, AZ.
