Scale City | One-Dimensional Scaling To Find Unknown Heights

This interactive helps students understand ratio relationships among real-world quantities by having them compare various figures to determine unknown heights and then scale a T. rex to fit into a virtual diorama. In the accompanying classroom activity, students create a drawing of a dinosaur, determine its scale relative to the actual dinosaur, create additional drawings of related figures and objects in the same scale, and justify the heights of the additional drawings using ratios and proportions. This resource is part of the Math at the Core: Middle School Collection.
