This KQED infographic invites students to analyze responses to a Pew Research Center poll gauging public reaction to the George Zimmerman verdict. In the accompanying classroom activity, students use data from the infographic to explore the poll’s responses. They draw upon this data to consider whether reactions to the verdict diverge along racial lines. They also consider which graphic representations best elucidate the data. To get the most out of this activity, students should be comfortable interpreting scaled picture graphs and be familiar with percent as rate per 100.
