        Analyzing Black Voter Registration Rates in Mississippi, Before and After Passage of the Voting Rights Act

        The enactment of the Voting Rights Act in 1965 had a tremendous impact on increasing the number of registered black voters in the South. The impact in Mississippi was particularly dramatic, where registration rates among voting age blacks skyrocketed almost immediately after passage of the law.
