In this interactive, students examine state-by-state felon voting laws and population impacts reported by *The Sentencing Project*, using 2010 data. In the accompanying classroom activity, students solve related percentage problems based on the number of students in their grade at school. For example, they find the state with the highest percent disenfranchised (10.7%) and then calculate 10.7% of the number in their grade. To get the most from this lesson, students should be comfortable converting between percentages and decimals (e.g., 2.5% and .025).
