The Arc of Monroe County provides an inclusive book club that meets weekly out in public at a local book store. The group provides an opportunity for those with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to read and discuss a book together as community members in a public setting. It enhances the quality of life and self-esteem of people in the program with meaningful social development, community participation and enrichment opportunities. It also helps to dispel stereotypes that others in the community may have about what people with disabilities can do. The Next Chapter Book Club is part of a worldwide network.
