        Mule Deer Migration

This video from Nature: Touching the Wild provides an overview about the migration of mule deer from their winter range to their summer range and back again. Naturalist Joe Hutto explains that the mule deer he studied in Wyoming migrate up into the mountains for the summer and return to their winter range for the coldest months and that this migratory behavior is passed on by the females from one generation to the next. The segment shows the mule deer leaving their winter range and describes how they break up into family groups and travel over 120 miles for the summer and then return to their winter range when it is time.
