        Quantum Physics

Explore how quantum computers could impact cybersecurity in this video from NOVA: Rise of the Hackers. In quantum physics, superposition is the idea that a particle can be in many locations at the same time. While classical computers use bits to represent data as 1s or 0s, quantum computers use qubits, which can be both 1 and 0 at the same time and can do many calculations simultaneously. Scientists have already constructed a quantum processor that can factor a number by considering all possible solutions at the same time; in the future, quantum computers could quickly break codes that use the RSA algorithm to encrypt information.
