The repulse (and capture) of the Pinkerton men by the strikers at the landing stage; Pinkerton National Detective Agency founded in 1850; force of 300 detectives from New York were called in to protect the mill during the Homestead Strike; Provenance: Private Collection / Peter Newark American Pictures.
