        Images of the Artist and His Work | Ken Burns: Thomas Hart Benton

        View images of Thomas Hart Benton (1889-1975), an American artist and muralist. He was born in Missouri and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago as well as in Paris. Benton’s work focused on ordinary people and was part of the American realist art movement, also known as American Regionalism, which thrived during the Great Depression through the end of the 1940s. Benton’s most famous student was American abstract expressionist artist, Jackson Pollock.
