        Bourdelle, Emile-Antoine (1861-1929); French. Medium: plaster. Date: 20th Century. Konrad Wallenrod; hero of a fictional poem by Adam Mickiewicz (1798-1855) written in 1829 at the time of Polish struggles against Russian rulers; concept of 'Wallenrodism' became part of Polish national consciousness; maquette for panels of base of the monument to Mickiewicz erected in 1929 at the Cours Albert Ier, near the Place de l'Alma in Paris; Mickiewicz was a Polish poet, writer and patriot; Provenance: Musee Bourdelle, Paris, France / Giraudon.
